Doreen Fitzpatrick is a Tanzanian-born entrepreneur, event planner and designer, and business leader based in the United States. She is the founder of Sassyfly Luxury Events, a high-end event planning and design company known for creating luxury weddings and celebrations for clients across the United States and internationally.

Doreen is also the owner of Nolech Luxury Rental, a luxury event rental company providing high-end furnishings and décor for upscale events. In addition, she is the co-founder of Fire Solutions NW, a fire protection and life safety company operating across six states in the United States.

Her journey to success was not easy. After moving to the United States, Doreen faced significant challenges, including a period where she experienced homelessness and lived in a shelter while working to rebuild her life.

​

Determined to create a better future, she worked a variety of jobs including door-to-door sales with Kirby, community organizing with Washington CAN, warehouse work, package delivery, customer service at Virgin America’s call center, and in the warranty department of an RV company.

​

During those early years, Doreen rediscovered her passion for creativity. With limited resources, she began creating event décor using materials purchased from the dollar store, which eventually grew into the luxury event design brand now known as Sassyfly Luxury Events.

Today, Doreen Fitzpatrick leads multiple businesses and is committed to using her platform to inspire others and highlight excellence within the African diaspora.

She is the founder and visionary behind the African Excellence Awards USA, a national platform created to recognize and celebrate Africans in the United States who are making extraordinary contributions in business, leadership, innovation, community service, arts, and culture.

Through the African Excellence Awards USA, Doreen aims to spotlight the achievements of Africans across America and inspire the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.
